AUSTIN, TEXAS

Bar and Restaurant Districts:

East Sixth: Lots of dive bars, restaurants and the up and coming area, definitely my favorite place other when I went in 2022! Hotel Vegas, Stay Gold, The North Door, Whistlers (great place), Native Hostel, White Horse. I really like enjoyed dinner at Suerte (great tacos) and Ah Sing Den (loved the bao buns and cocktails!). Great place to walk around and pop into different bars that are high energy but still chill.

Sixth St “Dirty 6”: Think Bourbon Street. But, there were some cool places to hit up day or night…Maggie Maes and Shiners Saloon have cool open air upstairs that overlook the street. Easy Tiger (beer garden that is a little more chill). Good happy hour at Parkside and a cool speakeasy style bar is Midnight Cowboy. Jackalope and Casino El Camino are both known for their burgers.

West Sixth: The other side of Sixth Street…. a little on more on the mature end but still most “twenty-somethings” at these bars! A few to look at are Green Light Social (adult capri suns), Ranch 616, The Rustic Tap, Key Bar, Concrete Cowboy.

Rainey Street: This is an entire street of old houses that have been flipped into bars and restaurants. Mostly post grads! Great for day time and night time bar hopping! A few options… Bangers Beer Garden (100+ beers on tap with different inside and outside bar areas), Icenhauers (great cocktails, cool outdoor backyard where there is typically a DJ), Container Bar (bar made out of multiple large containers), Unbarlievable is a circus theme and has a cool vibe, Lustre Pearl, Blackheart has a great whiskey/bourbon selection. Graj Mahal has authentic Indian food. Overall, all have large indoor open air and outside patios, huge screens playing sports and has a nice visitor and local vibe.

South Congress Ave: Great little area to walk around, eat and shop. Home Slice is good for NY style but some places to add to your list to possibly check out: Perla’s, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Joanns Fine Foods, Aba, Jeni’s Ice Cream. Also, the home of the I Love You So Much mural. Check out the Continental Club at night!

BBQ: Terry Blacks, La Barbecue, Franklins (multiple hour wait typically), Lamberts, Salt Lick (farther away from most everything)

Live Music: ACL Live (look online for concert tickets), Cedar Street Courtyard, Stubb's, Mohawk, Empire Control Room, Parish (also check online for who is playing/tickets).

Breweries/Bars/Wine Bars Lazarus, Blue Owl, Hops and Grain, Zilker Brewing Co, Austin Beerworks, Friends and Allies, Austin East Ciders, St. Elmo, LoLo, House Wine, Aviary, Wanderlust Wine

Others Restaurants: Bird Bird Biscuits, Odd Duck, Launderette, Grizzelda’s, Elizabeth St Café, Fresa’s, Pinthouse Pizza, Justines, Juniper

Deep Eddy Distillery – where they make the Vodka. You can catch a bus from the W hotel in downtown Austin. About 30 minutes outside of town.
