Cuisine American
- 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 shallot finely diced
- 1 tbsp white miso paste
- 1 tsp honey
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Begin by trimming the green beans, removing any rough ends. Steam them for 4 or so minutes and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil and butter until the butter melts and begins to sizzle slightly. Add the minced garlic and diced shallot. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent, being careful not to burn them.
Stir in the white miso paste and honey, allowing them to blend with the aromatics. Next, add the balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to create a smooth, flavorful sauce.
Add the green beans to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce until they’re evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the beans are tender yet still slightly crisp.
Transfer the Balsamic Garlic Green Beans to a serving dish. For a finishing touch, drizzle a little extra balsamic vinegar or add a sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper.
