Daily Jars; Richmond Meal Prep Service
DAILY JARS (a freshly prepared healthy meal service in Richmond, VA) and y'all, I'm not going to lie, this is one of my favorite companies I've encountered. They have "healthy, low-allergen meals" that are freshly prepared in their Richmond kitchen for pickup or delivery. Their "food contains organic and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible."
You can try for yourself and get 20% OFF using the CODE RFWG on their website, dailyjars.com
They say, "If you are intentional about using nutrition to maximize your physical and mental well-being", they can and want to help! One of the best parts about them is, "everything is gluten-free, dairy-free, and free of soy, egg, corn, peanuts, and cane sugar." PERFECTION. Oh and DONT FRET, most of their food works well for the Elimination Diet, Paleo, Whole30, etc. if thats up your alley.
Okay, lets be real. who HASNT heard of meal prep? If you haven't, I'm not sure how you found this blog but good for you. A lot of people NEED and WANT to meal prep because if you don't prepare for success you are just setting yourself up for failure during the week. I meal prep as much as I can on either Sunday or Monday depending on my weekend. But, sometimes I cant due to plans or other things come up, etc. I find this to be a GREAT alternative to meal prep because some people just don't WANT to. So, they can just go on the website and order as many meals as needed for the coming week and keep them to grab as if they did meal prep; what could be better? Not sure.
So, I really do love my own cooking. Im one of those people. So, when I heard about Daily Jars, I was like ok yeah cool idea ill try it out. The minute I took out the first meal, my first though was DAMNNNN this shizzz looks GOOD. I was pretty pumped to have a pre build high protein salad READY TO GO for the next day for lunch at work (lol I suck at making salads). TO BE completely HONEST, I was like I'm sure it will be good (not really thinking I would LOVE it). So, obviously you can guess...I LOVED it and basically have word vommed to my friends about it over and over again.
I am leaving for vacation this weekend and won't be back until Wednesday and I'm like, WOO perfect opportunity to order again. I will order about 3 meals because who wants to get home in the middle of the week and go to the grocery store and prep lunch and dinner for the last 2 days of the week. no one.
I ordered a weeks-ish worth of meals (ended up being about 48 dollars in total). The included 4 full meals, 2 grain free bars and 1 dessert.
My menu from last week:
1 Dark Chocolate Grain-free Bars - one bar**
1 Almond Coconut Energy Bar - one bar
1 Teriyaki Garden Box - Veggie Noodles - With Chicken**
1 Mediterranean Salad with White Beans - Without olives **
1 Power - Basil Mint Chicken with Spinach and Grapes - Chicken with Quinoa**
1 Caribbean Coconut Chicken with Steamed Broccoli & Brown Rice
Teriyaki Garden Box – Veggie Noodles with Chicken
Power – Basil Mint Chicken with Spinach and Grapes – Chicken with Quinoa
So, one thing that really drew me into the company was that fact that they are FULLY behind the concept of REAL FOOD so OBVI I'm going to be immediately interested. Basically, the use the same ingredients I would use if I was making that meal so me, I don't have to feel bad about "not knowing whats in my food because I didn't make it" type situation. I literally have anxiety about that (oops).
Their salad dressing I had [bright lemon and herb vinaigrette]: apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, olive oil, mint, basil, spices
For the dessert, the chocolate mousse is literally only made with: dates, cashews, maple syrup, coconut oil, cocoa powder, cacao nibs, salt, vanilla extract
Basically, I can fully get behind this and i'm obsessed to say the least.
